Akuroku~ Chance 5


The morning was chilly and dark.  I ended up waking up before Axel and I sat down at the kitchen table, not being able to sleep.  After last night, I felt nervous about how Axel would act towards me now.

I suddenly heard a bang and some talking outside.  I pulled on a shirt and ambled down the driveway.  The air was brisk as I hugged my chest from the cold.  A groan exited my mouth when I realized that there were no sidewalks...it is the middle of nowhere...and I had to trudge in the mud.

Down the road two people were standing next to a car as I got closer they seemed to be men, one short and one tall.  I walked up shyly, "Do you need some help?"

The short man turned quickly in surprise, but then gave me a grin, that was blinding, dispite the darkness, "We're good.  I knew the thing would break down eventually, but I always keep my tools handy."

...a mechanic.

The taller man mumbled something and went to go the car door.  The light inside the car turned on and I easily made out the face of the man standing in front of me.  He had short blonde hair and sky blue eyes.  His face was unshaven...but I thought it looked good on him.

Before I could get a look at the taller man, he ducked under the dash board inside the car.

The shorter man laughed, "Vincent here is a bit unsocial."

"I see,"

He turned his attention to me, "You must be the new neighbor Demyx was talking to me about.  Though...I did have a few beers so I don't know much."  He gave chuckle.

"I'm Roxas," I outstretched my hand.

He took it, "I'm Cid and that there is Vincent."

We let go of each other's hands and I let a random comment slip, "You don't seem old enough to drink."

There came a loud thunk from inside the car and it was obvious Vincent had been shocked by the statement by hitting head.  

Cid laughed, "Looks like you got some competition, Vin."

I blushed, "No!  I wasn't hitting on you."  I shifted from one foot to another, "I already have someone."

Cid moved closer to me, "He can't be as hot as me can he?"

I moved away.  Was he gonna molest me or something?

He was interruped by the opening of a car door and Vincent grabbing him.  I got a good look at the taller man's face.  It was long, with a noticably large forehead, though I drawn away from that with his piercing red eyes, that shown through long black hair.

These two men were much different than the others that lived around here.  Vincent whispered something to other and then let him go.

Cid looked a little helpless, "Looks like it's totaled."

I perked up, "Would you like to come over and use the telephone to get someone here to tow it?"

Cid grinned, "Thanks a bunch."  

He began walking up the road.  Vincent's shoulders dropped as he let out a breathe.

"Are you coming?" I asked.

He blushed slightly and then began to walk up with me.

I opened my mouth to speak but I wondered if I would make this situation worse.

"It's okay."  He voice had a higher pitch then expected and I nearly tripped.

I nervously chuckled.  He seemed almost feminine.

Vincent and I walked into the house to see Cid already on the phone, so I lead Vincent into the kitchen.

"Would you like something to drink?"

He shook his head and I watched him study the room.

"You play guitar?" he asked.

"Oh, yeah." I blushed.

"Me, too."

I smiled and gestured that he sit down with me.  I easily made friends with Vincent as we talked about music and how our boyfriends could be such idiots.

I suddenly heard someone stumbling down the back stairwell and Sora sleepily walked into the kitchen.

"...hey, Rox-"  His eyes opened wide, "Who the hell are you?!"
