Vincent usually had such bad nights.  It wasn't the darkness, the voice of Chaos, or the nightmares.  It was simply the loniness he felt at that time of the day.

Every night he would sneak out of his room and go to Cid's.  He would knock on the door and Cid would drowsily answer,

"What is it, Vin?"

Vincent knew Cid wouldn't remember any of this in the morning.  Vincent wouldn't keep the man long.  Just of few moments of his presense was enough for Vin.  To see Cid's face.

Cid huffed, "...why do you keep doing this every night?"

Vincent stuttered, "w-what?....you..."

"Vin, I'm not that old."

So, Cid didn't forget.  Vincent felt kinda stupid for thinking Cid wouldn't notice, but he did.

Cid sighed, "Come on in, Vin."

Vincent backed off, scared.

"Come on,"  Cid grabbed his arm and pulled him in, closing the door behind them.

Vincent took a moment to compose himself and then looked around.  He'd never truly been inside Cid's room.   A light was on and Cid seemed to be working on some sort paperwork at his small desk.

Cid sat down, "Sleep in my bed."

Vincent turned pink,"...wha-"

"Go, now."

Vincent froze at the harsh voice and wondered if Cid were going to stike him.  Cid got up and lead Vin over to the bed with force.  Cid put him under the covers and tucked him in, "Now, sleep, alright?"

Vincent felt childish, and asked in a small voice, "Are you mad at me?"

Cid shook him head, "No, you just need to work on your social skills."

"Sorry...I just-"

"Go to sleep.  We can talk in the morning."

"...okay."
